Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band played two nights at the Los Angeles Sports Arena this week. I went Wednesday. The show came across less political and preachy than his last time through the Sports Arena. The focus was on fun. At one point Bruce perused the crowd for signs with songs on them. When he found one he liked, he grabbed it and the band played the song. Some of the new album, Working on a Dream, is so-so. They played Outlaw Pete, which is a downright snooze. However, I’m Goin’ Down and Out in the Street set my feet on fire. USC football coach Pete Carroll was looking on from backstage. Clarence Clemens played strong, but seemed fragile with limited mobility. I hope he’s doing OK.
